BIO/HISTORY PERSONALITY
  • Bridge is one of the friendliest people in the entirety of S.P.D. He genuinely cares about people, sees the best in everyone and takes joy out of everything around him. He’s passionate about his job and wants to right the wrongs villains try to bring on the innocent, as is the duty of a Ranger. He follows command, even while he actively questions or disagrees with it and never poses his disagreements rudely; when he believes he’s right and his leader is wrong, he simply goes about his own methods and finds the true culprit. But Bridge isn’t just a Ranger bent on duty and following direction, he’s still a person. A very strange and eccentric person. Bridge is one of the most intelligent people in the entirety of S.P.D. Second only to Kat Manx (and then Sophie when she joins up but third is still respectable in a large organization.) Unfortunately for Bridge, unlike Kat and Sophie, his genius is the kind that could invent something sophisticated out of scraps and wires, but he’d forget how to tie his shoes if left to his own devices. He reprograms his computer to be a toaster because he liked toast and he upgrades the S.P.D. robot dog despite his commander ordering him to be scrapped because the technology was obsolete. Bridge basically had to rebuild him from nothing and he was better than ever. His genius mixed with the fact his empathy is always working at a low level and picking up the thoughts and energies and emotions of everyone around him, Bridge comes off as very scatterbrained. He thinks from A to M to Z and simply thinks too fast and forgets to tell his friends how he got from A to Z, making his thoughts seem disjointed and random. On top of this, he also has a hard time explaining his thought process in a succinct way since he really is a little scatterbrained and as he’s explaining, he’s thinking every thought he had while going through this process and explains those as well. To some, it might seem Bridge lacks a filter, but he can keep secrets and tell lies and hold his opinions to himself just fine, he simply says things that come to mind because they seem simple and normal to him. He mentions he has a ‘bath book’ to his team and his Commander and, when questioned about it, he simply replies: ‘Of course [I have a bath book], don’t you?’ because why wouldn’t someone want a book for while bathing? Bridge has had his empathic ability all his life and, for someone who can feel everyone’s feelings and hear their surface-level thoughts, he’s surprisingly made it his 19/20-something generic Power Ranger confused age years without becoming jaded. He knows there’s bad people in the world who want to do bad things and hurt others for seemingly no reason, but that’s part of why he’s S.P.D. He wants to help and make the world a better, safer place. Especially since he’s got these powers that no one else has. Why not put them to good use? Bridge has some habits that are uniquely ‘Bridge’ things his friends initially mock and don’t understand, but then come to understand as they get past his ‘weirdness’ and begin to open up to him. He does handstands (and can hold himself up with only one hand if he wants to) to ‘get the ideas’ flowing. Logically, it gets the blood flowing to his brain and allows him to think more clearly, something that’s likely hard with all those thoughts and emotions constantly at the back of his head, but he says it’s to ‘knock the ideas loose so they can fall to your head.’ He also always sleeps with his gloves on or in his mittened onesie so his powers are muted and he can sleep. Also, he eats an absurd amount of buttered toast. That last one might serve no purpose, but it’s still uniquely Bridge. Because of his powers, scatteredness, and generally being passed off even by his friends because he seems ‘silly’ Bridge starts off the show with not a whole lot of confidence. But as the show goes on and his fellow Rangers begin to understand him and value him for who he is, he grows more open to others and more confident in himself. It’s shown he’s even somewhat popular and socially active as he makes a comment about being adviser to lower level squads and editor of the cadet's newsletter; things he certainly wasn’t doing before he became a B-Squad Ranger and found his place.
